How we make our shirts

Here you can read what our shirts are made of, where they are made and how they reach you. All our suppliers are listed by name and address on Made By.

Material

Our T-shirts and sweaters are made from 100% organic cotton. The fabrics are tested for harmful substances to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Almost all our prints use water-based ink.

Production

We have had our shirts and sweaters made in Portugal since 2015. Our agent and manufacturer Free Season in Barcelos handles knitting, dyeing, sewing and most of the printing. Small runs are printed in the Netherlands. Free Season employs 13 people under Portuguese labour law. From 2016 to 2021 Okimono took part in the Dutch Agreement on Sustainable Garments and Textile.

No seasonal collections

We don't have seasonal collections, so we have no end-of-season stock to dispose of.

Shipping

We ship with PostNL and use paper mailing bags with FSC certification wherever possible.

Collection and reuse

Okimono is a member of Stichting UPV Textiel, the Dutch producer organisation for collecting and reusing textiles. Is your shirt really worn out? Take it to a charity shop or textile bank.

Thuiswinkel sustainability certificate

In 2025 we obtained the Thuiswinkel Duurzaamheidscertificaat, the sustainability certificate of the Dutch e-commerce association. It assesses our approach to products, circularity, packaging, delivery and returns.
